Neuroepidemiology Unit within the Neurology clinic, Clinical Center of Serbia in Belgrade has been founded in 2005 and it performs its activities in accordance with the major objectives of the neroepidemiological research in Serbia, including:

• PAssessment of neurological diseases frequency and distribution parameters among the defined populations;
• Design and up-to-dating of the population and hospital records and data bases for individual neurological diseases;
• Analysis of indicators of population burden of neurological diseases;
• Identification of risk factors for neurological diseases;
• Assessment of quality of life of patients with neurological diseases;
• Studying of natural course and prognosis of neurological diseases, including analysis of mortality, fatality and survival;
• Clinical-epidemiological and pharmacoepidemiological research.

Cooperation between departments and research groups within the Institute of Neurology is realized through participation in designing of clinical and population studies, data analysis and preparation of publications.

Neuroepidemiology Unit contributes to higher quality of education in the field of basic and specialist courses, doctoral studies, continuous medical education as well as education of junior scientists through their M.Sc. and Ph.D. theses.

Participation at the international neuroepidemiological studies is an important activity due to the possibility of comprehension of differences in frequency of diseases and profile of environmental and genetic risk factors between different populations.
