Surgical treatment of her epilepsy has opened new dimensions in her life.

I am  51 and I have had epilepsy for 11 years. Throughout the period I have been treated at the Institute of Neurology by Dr. Vojvodić.

After my fist fit, my disease was not diagnosed. The second fit came after six months and I was diagnosed with epilepsy. I started to take medicines, however in absence of any response. Over the first several years I had the fits every 3 months. However, with time, the fits became increasingly frequent. The fits appeared on my work place and in the street I was loosing the consciousness and got injured. After the fits, I felt tired and scared. During the period, I had the fits every week. I had a severe form of epilepsy.

Thus, Dr. Vojvodić suggested me to come to examination at the Institute of Neurology. I spent there a month and underwent all the required examinations. Thereafter, I was told by the doctors that I meet all the criteria for surgical treatment and that all depends on me – whether I will decide to undergo surgery. After discharge, my condition was drastically deteriorated and I was not able to come out of my home by myself. The drugs I took did not help me.

At the time, I decided to undergo surgery since I was not able to live my life in that way any more. The decision was difficult since it was associated with risks and I was worried whether it will be successful and whether I shall remain normal. I was operated by a neurosurgeon, Dr. Tasic by the end of July 2007.

The operation succeeded. All the follow-up examinations were within normal range. I have no fits any more. This was my story. I have fought against this severe disease for 11 years and experienced true hell. Now I live normal life without any fear from fits.  I still take my therapy. Dr. Nikola Vojvodić and Dr. Goran Tasić have all credits for my cure.
