Department of Cerebrovascular Diseases and Headaches (Clinical Department II) deals with chronic cerebrovascular diseases, particularly those of young onset as well as with investigation of rare causes of stroke (coagulopathies, non-atherosclerotic vasculopathies, embolic stroke, vasculitis). Additionally, our department is also dealing with problems associated with carotid diseases (asymptomatic and symptomatic) as well as with vascular cognitive disorders, particularly vascular dementia. Clinical Department II also includes a Headache Center intended for specialized evaluation and treatment of patients with chronic and therapy-resistant headaches. In addition to the most common, primary headaches (migraine, tension headache) the Center for Headaches is also dedicated to evaluation and treatment of less common forms of headache (trigemino-autonomous, secondary and particularly headache associated with excessive drug use) and performs detoxication treatment and applies the most contemporary therapeutical approaches.

Additionally, Department II also includes ultrasound neurovascular laboratory intended for standard ultrasound cerebral blood vessels diagnostics (extracranial and transcranial color coded Doppler) as well as specific tests (detection of cerebral microembolisms, left-to-right shunt detection tests, examination of the brain parenchyma, diagnosis of vasculitis, temporary arteritis, functional TCD).

Our department is also specialized in examination and rehabilitation of language and speech disorders of vascular etiology within the neurolinguistic laboratory.
