Dr Dragoslav V. Sokić graduated the primary school in 1974 and the secondary school in 1979 year with "summa cum lauda" degree. He started his study of medicine in 1979 at Medical faculty, University of Belgrade and received four yearly faculty awards for excellence in performance. He graduated on January, 24th 1985 with average score 9.86 (of maximal 10).

He finished the 12-month internship period in 1986 at the Clinical Center of Serbia. Dr Sokić took a job as a resident at the Institute of Neurology, C.C.S., on April, 15th 1987, under the surveillance of professor Zvonimir Lević. He spent the first 3 years at the Department of Multiple sclerosis and Epileptology and Critical Care Unit of the Emergency Center. He started the training program for specialization in neuropsychiatry in 1989. He attended four semesters of lectures in neurology and psychiatry while working as a resident at Departments of Movement Disease, Peripheral Nerve and Muscle Disease, Neuropsychology, Cerebro-vascular Diseases, Biological Psychiatry, and Neurotic Disorders, for 6 months at each. He passed the Final Examination for Specialization in Neuropsychiatry on May, 11th 1992 with "summa cum lauda" degree. He attended a 9-month course in electroencephalography at the Institute of Neurology in 1992 and 1993 and passed the exam for licensed electroencephalographer. In 1992, he joined the Department of Epileptology as an attending neurologist after the leadership of Professor Zvonimir Lević.

Dr Sokić publicly reported the results of his master of science thesis "Clinical Approach to the Therapeutic Protocol for the Treatment of Patients with Status Epilepticus" on May, 21 1991., at the Medical Faculty, University of Belgrade, and obtained the degree of Master of Science. In addition, he obtained the Ph.D. degree on May, 24 2001., at the Medical Faculty, University of Belgrade after he reported his Ph.D. thesis under the title "Analysis of Risk Factors for Brain Damage in Patients with Status Epilepticus".

Dr Sokić joined Medical Faculty, University of Belgrade as assistant professor of neurology in 1995., and, after promotion as associate professor of neurology in 2001. He was appointed as the Head of the Department of Epileptology in 2001. after the retirement of Professor Zvonimir Lević. At the same year Dr Sokić became Vice-Director of the Institute of Neurology C.C.S., Belgrade, under the Directorship of Professor Vladimir Kostić.

Dr Sokić is national coordinator for two multicentre international nonprofit trials: Medical Research Council Multicentre Study of Early Epilepsy and Single Seizures (MESS) and European Registry of Antiepileptic Drugs in Pregnancy (EURAP). As principal investigator, he conducted dozen of clinical drug trails in epileptology and postherpetic neuralgia. He is a member of the International League Against Epilepsy and Vice-president of the Yugoslav Chapter of the ILAE.

He showed great interest in the treatment of patients with therapeutically refractory epilepsies and status epilepticus, neuropsychology of epilepsy, pharmacology of antiepileptic drugs, syndromic classification of epileptic patients, general epileptology, sleep disorders as well as general neurology. Since 2006. Dr Sokić established Presurgical comprehensive epileptological program at the Institute of neurology, which assembled, besides neurologist, specialist in neurosurgery, neuroradiology, nuclear medicine, neuropsychology as well as EEG/telemetry stuff.
