Šarlota Mesaroš was born in 1967 in Belgrade. Graduated in 1994 (School of Medicine, Belgrade University) with average score 9.5.
From 1994-1998 received Republic of Serbia, Ministry of Science Fellowship for young researchers, working in the following projects: “Genetic end epidemiological study of multiple sclerosis“ and “Integrative functions of the nervous system“ at the Institute of Neurology, School of Medicine, Belgrade (under the supervision of Prof. dr Zvonimir Lević)
Since 1998, employee of the Institute of Neurology, Belgrade, Department for Multiple Sclerosis and other Immune-mediated Disorders of the CNS. In addition to clinical practice, was involved also in the interpretation of CSF and serum isoelectric focusing findings.
In 1999 board certificate in Neurology, School of Medicine, Belgrade.

In 2000 master of science (MSc) degree in Neurology, School of Medicine, Belgrade. The title of the master thesis: »Clinical characteristics and MRI findings in oligoclonal IgG negative multiple sclerosis patients« (Supervisor Prof. dr Zvonimir Lević).

Since 2008 Assistant professor in Neurology, School of Medicine, University of Belgrade.

2009 PhD degree at the School of Medicine, University of Belgrade, PhD thesis: “Correlates of locomotor and cognitive impairment in multiple sclerosis. A voxel-based morphometry study” (Supervisor Prof. Dr J. Drulović, Co-supervisor Prof. Dr Massimo Filippi, Neuroimaging Research Unit, Univesity Hospital San Raffaele, Milan, Italy).

2001-2005 Member of the research project team ”Clinical features and laboratory markers of inflammation, demyelination and axonal damage in multiple sclerosis and Guillain-Barre syndrome” granted by the Ministry of Science, Republic of Serbia (Principal investigator Prof. dr. Jelena Drulović).

2006-2010 Member of the research project team ”Quality of life in neurological disorders: comprehensive assesment of the impact of the disease“, granted by the Ministry of Science, Republic of Serbia (Principal investigator Prof. Dr T. Pekmezović).

2011- Member of the research project team “Comparative analysis of clinical parameters and biomarkers in the prognosis of the multiple sclerosis evolution and other immune- mediated neurological disorders granted by the Ministry of Science, Republic of Serbia (Principal investigator Prof. dr. Jelena Drulović)
2001: International Danube Neurology Fellowship (International Danube Symposium for Neurological Sciences and Continuing Education), for one moth education at the Department of Neurology, University of Szeged, Hungary (Supervisor Prof. Dr Laszlo Vecsei).

2002: EFNS (European Federation of Neurological Societes) Fellowship for »Department to Department Cooperation Programme« for visiting Section of Clinical Neurology, University of Ferrara, Italy (Supervisor Prof. Dr. E. Granieri)

2007-2008: Work as a member of the project team "Role of tissue preservation vs. adaptive cortical reorganization in limiting the clinical impact of MS: a structural and functional MRI study of benign MS", at Neuroimaging Research Unit, University of San Raffaele, Milan, Italy (Supervisor Prof. Dr Massimo Filippi, Neuroimaging Research Unit, University of San Raffaele, Milan, Italy). Two years of education in neuroimaging field in MS and work on PhD thesis granted by the: ENS (European Neurological Society) Fellowship, Prof. Risto Bokonjić Foundation Fellowship, and Scientific Institute and University Hospital San Raffaele Fellowship, Milan, Italy

2010-2011-g Scientific Institute and University Hospital San Raffaele Fellowship, Milan, Italy for the six month education in Neuroimaging Research Unit, Scientific Institute and University San Raffaele, Milan, Italy (Supervisor Prof. Massimo Filippi).
